'Tis the Season?

Ya it’s that time of year. The Christmas parties, holiday brunches, New Year’s...  Figuring out what to wear can be a challenge. Now we’re not telling you exactly what to wear but just a safe never sorry, holiday success. The TOP 3 holiday problems:  1. Wearing Too Much Glitz 2.Being Under or Over Dressed and 3. Putting It All Together. Ladies, make it easy!

No wonder women approach the holidays with dread. If you've ever dressed up shinier than a Christmas tree. Beading, metallic and shimmer are all fine for the holidays. In fact, most women wait until a good party to break out all of the glitzy finery. But too much shine can overwhelm anyone, especially if you wear it in areas that you don't necessarily want to highlight. Solution: Sequin at the bottom puts a twist on things. Most women would wear a sequin top and call themselves “holiday party ready” (psssh she's got nothing on these ---> http://pinkindigo.com/black-brown-sequin-pants-p-247.html)

On the other hand you show up in jeans, everyone else wears velvet; you wear a long dress and others wear business clothes. You're not alone if you have trouble deciphering “dressy casual” and “cocktail attire”. Solution: You can never go wrong at any holiday party around your boss in a blazer. (perhaps one with a little flare ---> http://pinkindigo.com/white-slit-back-blazer-p-208.html) Simple!

Now for those who have a hard time putting it all together:  When going simple in something like a little black dress, add some drama! Don’t make it so complicated with your hair. Opt for sexy half-up/half-down styles or pull your hair back into a low ponytail. As far as makeup goes, sometimes all it takes is a great red lipstick to dress it all up! Share this with friends on Facebook to help them look just as fab!

Cobalt | Color of the Season

**Trend Alert**
We all knew earlier this year during fashion week that cobalt was 'a' hot color for the fall/winter season. But no one told us it would be THE hot color of the season! Totally unfair warning walking into retail stores, while out shopping black friday even, that this color is springing off the racks. Although I must add that cobalt looks ah-mazing with the winter hues of oxblood and chocolate brown. Vouge states, "When the autumn shows rolled out in February, it was clear designers hadn't quite cast off thoughts of their upcoming summer holidays". Of course Vouge knew, they're Vouge! lol Thank goodness for Vouge though right?

We've got popping color and loads of sequence it's like a party in your winter wardrobe and we're excited about it. Love Fashion?  We do too! Send all fashion questions and concerns to info@pinkindigo.com . Shine Bright- Holiday Party Style

This holiday season is all about glitz and glam, and sequins are back and in a big way.  We’re not talking ‘80’s- style prom dress sequins, but a subtle and elegant dash of glitter that gives just the right amount of edge to any outfit. In fact, adding some sparkle to your look is not only one of 2012′s hottest trends — it’s also one of the easiest.  If you don’t already have your go -to sequin accessory, you need to get one before the holiday party circuit starts. Here, we’ve rounded up some of our glittery, most versatile pieces on the site.

Happy Turkey Day!

Happy Turkey Day!

This year we are thankful for:
Catherine Dean | The true key to Catherine's style is her passion for traditional craft techniques. She takes forgotten or neglected crafts and uses them in a very contemporary way so her . Catherine Dean now claimed as THE emerging designer based in Hong Kong and has quickly become a current staple at most major runway shows including New York's Fashion Week. Catherine's pieces also seen on artist from Shakira to Kim Kardashian! I will definitely be looking out for more fab CD designed pieces on the hottest runways.

Her most recent recognized work is this gorg statement cutout dress worn by pop artist P!NK at this years 40th Anniversary American Music Awards! *adds dress to christmas list* hehe. She teamed the dress with large pear drop earrings and a rolled-in hairstyle with shaved sides. Of course, P!NK usually favors an edgy rocker look and prefers to set trends rather than follow them \m/. P!NK was also complimented by the fashionista of the 80's Cyndi Lauper. This alone says EVERYTHING. Beautiful design Cat, stunning look by P!NK.

Layers with Style

As the leaves fall from the trees and the temp takes a spiral layering becomes inevitable. Good news is there are many ways you can layer stylishly without the bulk and we're here to show you how.

Layers of Style

Olive Wrapped Military Jacket [RJ4189-Olive] - $85.00 : Buy Trendy...

Bulky Outerwear:
This belt plays a gigantic role in this outfit. Some times the cold makes it quite challenging to keep a feminine figure. Without the jacket you create a waistline using the skinny belt. Also with the jacket on you still keep your feminine figure with the tied belt. Style Tip: Jackets with ties like this one or peplum detail makes it almost impossible for you to look boxy in outerwear.

How To Style:
I see two major looks in this. Simple black dress, black tights, and dark or olive booties. For those who like to dip your feet in the 'fashionably fabulous' pool, add acolor pop with the mint skinny belt and the jacket matching the booties to ties it all together. That way you can easily shed layers! This outfit could pass for late night movie date or a girls night.

This look is so chic, comfortable, and versatile. Including pieces many of you already own like the little black dress, black tights, booties, and a bold skinny belt in some way or another. The fabulous extras can be found online @ Pinkindigo.com Submit your questions to info@pinkindigo.com to get all the answers to your style how-to's for your style, your body, and your budget!

Breaking Dawn

Pink Indigo Look of the Day | Dead Silence

Dead Silence

Dead Silence by mypinkindigo

Dead Silence| Fashion with a rock’n roll twist

Edge, glamour and a little bit of grit. These must haves are the seasons trending report and each piece is key to achieving this look. Pairing the plum shoe with the maxi, sheer cutout top and burgundy lip (possibly with the jacket thrown over your shoulder)  gives the look a feminine touch without losing the “Badass” factor. The maxi paired with the studded shoulder jacket and the studded pump is almost deadly! With the second look ditch the jewels and let it speak for itself!

Like always guys shoot us your style questions to info@pinkindigo.com because we’ve got answers! Peace Love and Fashion Forever xoxo

Out in Oxblood

Out in Oxblood
It's that dark reddish-brown color sweeping racks for fall. This color was featured in many fall lines like Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin, Joe Fresh, etc. and its also listed in Vogue's Most Popular Winter Pedicure Shades.  The old fashion burgundy can be used as a great neutral and paired with hot pink to a bold houndstooth print. Glamor's writer and editor states,I like to think of oxblood as red’s badass older cousin. It's dark, moody, but sophisticated too. This deep, rich color makes just about anything look edgy and luxe." So what do you think? Will you be wearing oxblood this fall?

Sunday Spa Day

Brightening facial

You need: One lemon, 3 whole strawberries, one banana

This DIY face mask is sure to brighten up a tired complexion. The vitamin C in the strawberries lightens dark spots, the lemon exfoliates, and the banana conditions.

How to: Remove the stems from the strawberries and dice. Mash the diced strawberries in a small bowl with the banana. Add the juice of one lemon, and apply to the face, avoiding the eyes. Leave on for 15 minutes, or until the mask starts to feel dry. Rinse off with cool water.

Enjoy Ladies. Keep Calm and Sip Sunday Tea!

How-To: Wear Colored Jeans or Leggings

Give your pants a professional twist with a blazer
Dressing for an internship can be a little… boring. Refresh your internship apparel with your skinnies. Just make sure that this look obeys your internship’s dress code. You don’t want to commit a fashion fail, especially at the office.

Take on fall with a cozy sweater.
Feeling a little risky? Rock your pants with a crazy, patterned sweater.

Never underestimate the power of neutrals
If you want your pants to be the center of attention, pair them with neutrals.

Color Block, Color Block, Color Block
The trick to using a color wheel is to choose colors that are opposites. For example, add a yellow top if you’re wearing purple jeans. Don’t worry color blocking will be a breeze soon enough.

Rock a leather jacket
Usually, colored jeans don’t say, “rock and roll.” But add a leather jacket and some messy hair even some rockin’ boots!

Go wild with prints
If you love to make a fashion statement, you must sport your colored skinnies with a patterned top. With a ton of different prints to choose from, how could you not want to give this trick a try?

Simple with a button-down
Nothing’s better than a button-down shirt; absolutely classic.

Keep it casual with a tanktop
Available @ Pinkindigo.com
If you’re a laidback kind of girl, keep it simple with a cute tank. Give it a chic twist with awesome hair or makeup.

Givenchy Recap

Panthers now horses! Tons of oversized earrings like horse-blinders and high riding boots.
There was a sense of danger or mystery during the show.  Extremely tight neck scarves, loud music, an interesting skintight leather piece, even some bondage gear it looked like. One leather dress was followed by a series of intense-color slip dresses with color-blocked belts – totally back to British glam rock! Indeed, associations with rock music have been one off THE key factors in Givenchy. With P.Diddy and Alicia Keys on Sunday's front row, it's clear that even the music stars can't resist. Absolutely eye catching!

Trend Alert

Go for the gold!
Whether it’s a pair of gold shoes adorning your feet, a set of gold bangles clanking on your wrist, or gold accents embellishing your bags and clothes, gold is a fall must-have and there are plenty of ways to add this color to your fall wardrobe.

Shopping on-the-go

Sometimes you just don't have the time to try on! We understand, but first make sure you are well equipped on 'the rules' before you ditch the fitting room.

1. The store return policy. This is a biggie. Always know what will happen when you come back to return. Most have at least 30 days for a refund. The smaller boutiques may offer store credit.

2. Know your body type and its complementary silhouettes. Pieces looks totally different on rack than on your body.

3. Your colors. Find out which colors suit you. Which colors look well on the body and go well with your eye and hair color.

4. Your personal style. I admit it. I get caught up with trends that look awesome on the runway, but are somewhat inappropriate for my way of life. Be honest with yourself before shelling out your hard earned ca$h!

5. You’ll get a second chance. Let’s face it, not every purchase will be a winner.  Once you get home piece it in your wardrobe, give yourself time to love it. If not immediately place your item(s) in the bag with tags and receipt to make things easier for you.

When your low on time or just don't want to try on, remember these tips to avoid a fashionista tragedy! Thanks for reading and remember if you have any fashion questions or suggestions feel free to email us at info@pinkindigo.com

Fashion Q&A

Q&A Hey Guys! This is our Question and answer segment. Questions you all have submitted to us to answer and help you be the best fashionista you can be! This one is one of the more popular questions:

"Should an outfit ever be repeated exactly the same way you’ve worn it before?"

That answer would be NO. Unless its uniform, no outfit should ever look exactly the same way you’ve worn it before. There are a number of ways to style your favorite tee and jean combo. Dress it up: Blazer, Tee, Skinny Jeans, Pumps, Killer neckline accessories. Dress it down: Tee, Boyfriend Jeans/Crops, cute Sandal, OR tuck it into some high waited denim with a statement belt. Catch my drift? There are so many accessories and concepts that can be put together and speak without saying a word. Layer it- High waist it- Belt it- Get the Sparkles out! For those less creative with a scissor, use other outlets like having the coolest accessories of all! Fashion has come too far. We want you to have fun weather you follow trends or you set them. In doubt?.. Let US style YOU! Submit your questions to info@pinkindigo.com

Chanel SS13

Makes you rethink the question “Does my bag have to flow with my outfit?! “ They say this may be the largest Chanel bag of all time. History has been made!  It’ll probably retail for a billion dollars and one to get their hands on a bag of its quilted hula hoop greatness is one lucky fashionista.  I feel this will spark a huge oversize bag frenzy for spring which is very exciting! What girl doesn’t love her bags!

A Closer Look
It looks like the actual frame itself is leather material of some sort. It looks pretty smooth but not seeing any major shoulder support really. The front face is quilted white, hope to see it in other variations. Of course the logo on the front was a must with something this extraordinarily different. Looks like the Chanel hula bag stole its own show. This bag gets a 10 for overall awesomeness!

From Day to Night

This second look shows an easy safe way to work around your favorite statement pieces. We all have that one piece in our closets we just had to have but have absolutely nothing to wear with it. A pencil skirt like this may be you 'impossible piece' but check this out..
Embracing this fall's peplum trend with this simple jacket left and again on the right with silk and leather. This high waisted skirt is so fun and abstract. A blazer would also work just as great with a outfit like this and is probably something you already own! Overall this is a killer look that easily goes from day to night time events! This fab skirt found at pinkindigo.com

From Day to Night #2

Twisted Tuesdays

Fall feels a little rebellious! Let's start with this faaabulous cutout top. Super do-able for fall as it gets cooler but still getting to show a little skin. This fabric is so comfortable and can easily be paired with denim or leggings for a more lax feel. This long maxi skirt is great to have in your closet as it can be worn a number of ways. Love the high slit opening adding tons of effortless detail. I feel this definitely has an cuttle edge to it; a grunge look. This top and skirt are great transition pieces for the season and can be pre-ordered at Pinkindigo.com. So, what do you guys think about this edgy ensemble?

Prada SS13 Recap

Prada hit the runway to showcase a unique pair of shoes that had a wooden, platform base and her leather ‘glove shoes’, stringed together with colorful ribbon. “Miuccia Prada invents the foot glove,” states Times. In addition to the eye-catching shoesMiuccia presented her spring ’13 collection, mix of many fabrics and textures like satin skirts with fur vests. She told fashion journal WWD her intention was to mix femininity with a bit of edge: “Toughness and the poetic part. I tried to mix them together, because this is mainly what women have to deal with in reality. Unlike some designers we find Prada’s spring/summer line to be very wearable. There was a Japanese inspired feel to the collection that we really enjoyed. Lastly thatfeminine touch with a stemmed flower printed on, very cute. This collection gets 5 stars for wear ability and 5 for being adorable!

LFW Burberry Prorsum Recap | Spring/ Summer 2013

First to say you couldn't take your eyes off the runway. Lots of great volume in a lot of the pieces. All of the eye catching capes and trenches, doing half the work for the stylist lol. Bailey really outdid himself modernizing the trench coat in this way, beautiful! LOVE the bodysuits, again very modernized from the 60's. Pencil skirts, foil shirts, satin bright, colored wedge heels.. All very well done.

The finale: last walk was very clean as the models lapped in the pieces color order with little bags looked spectacular!

Thoughts on the show? What are your favorite LFW moments?

Plus Size Myths

“I CAN'T horizontal WEAR STRIPES” Myth!

I know we don't carry Plus Size clothing as of yet but we can still give style tips!! Plus size woman can wear stripes, and wear them well! After all, horizontal stripes have become a perennial favorite in fashion collections. Vertical stripes are an obvious slimmer. They elongate the body and make you look longer AND leaner. The more common horizontal strip is said to make you look wider. It's the horizontal wide stripe women try to avoid. It's true, a wide horizontal stripe typically has a panel sifting right in the stomach creating that wide effect. BUT WAIT, narrow horizontal stripes does the figure just fine! Also when wearing a horizontal stripe use accents to create illusions. Like a bold skinny belt to create a waistline or do a black and white stripes that contrast each other.

-Avoid a stripe that goes right across the tummy area
-Use accents
-Contrast, Contrast, CONTRAST!

EYEBROW Shaping is Vital!

DO first decide on which eyebrow shape fits your face. They should frame your eyes, and complement your face, rather than detract from your appearance.

DO use an eyebrow pencil, powder or mousse for filling or correcting. Emphasis on filling in, your face is no notebook, no drawing needed.

DON’T ever shape your eyebrows yourself. It's too easy to ruin your whole look with a badly shaped brow.  Leave the shaping to the experts!

DON’T over pluck, this should be a crime! Use concealer to outline and blend around eyebrow to cover strays until eyebrows are to desired thickness again.

Everyone has different eyebrow shapes

This is a no no!
Gorgeous Eyebrows! KK eyebrows are always on point.
 More Gorgeous Eyebrows...Megan Fox

I'm such an advocate on great eyebrows!! Ladies please remember that your eyebrows can either make or break your look. So please if your having a hard time trying to perfect the brow, go to a professional so you can keep your CHIC STYLISH YOU look.

xoxo
