The idea of boyfriend jeans is to be cute,
super comfortably and trendy all at once. When wearing boyfriend jeans you still want to
have that feminine look. Pair them with cute ballet flats, or heels, with a
tank of fitted top. You can use any old pair of oversized jeans, typically two
sizes of so. The fit we are trying to accomplish is fitted at the waist and
looser through the thigh. Now let’s get started!
Checklist: Jeans [ ] Bleach [ ] Razor [ ] Sand paper [ ] Chalk [ ]
Washer & Dryer [ ] Dryer Sheets [ ]
Step 1: Preparation|
Use checklist to make sure you have everything ready to go. Okay with jeans on,
mark the knee area on both knees. This is where will give the jean a distressed
look. Also mark a long Do Not Cross line. This line will indicate where you
should not cut any higher so that you are not showing upper thigh you wouldn’t
want shown.
Step 2:
Destruction| Here’s where you get creative! Lay jeans on a hard flat and begin
to scrub the sand paper across the chalked knee area, around the front pocket
area, and up and down the thigh area.
Not too much to where there is a physical hole (the damage will show
after they are washed and dried). Next carefully use a razor blade to cut
across the lower thigh area of the jean horizontally. A few here and there,
it‘s all totally up to you. **Remember your Do Not Mark line. You can do as
much or as little as you desire. Although to avoid a disaster don’t do TOO
much, you can always add later.
Step 3: The
Bleaching| Depending on how dark the jean you can soak the jeans in bleach, or
if they are already light wash you can “spot” bleach. If they are not to your
desired wash, simply soak them in bleach for 45 min. Now, spot bleaching can
get messy but really fun! You can fill the bleach cap and drizzle bleach over
the jean, use a foam stencil to stencil stars or what have you, hand prints
lol, just have fun with it! Let the bleach sit for an hour. Obviously bleach is not very forgiving so make
sure you give it some thought before going too crazy.
Step 4: Wash
& Dry| When time is up throw the jeans in the wash (Don’t worry about
wringing them out if you soaked them) When finished washing, toss them in the
dryer with a dryer sheet for 35 min. (This will help all that elbow work come
to life). **If they are still not dry you can toss them back in or hang dry
them for the remainder of the time)
Step 5: Ready2Wear| Once
dry put them on and roll them up right above the ankles and there you are!
There are so many ways to dress them up or down, very versatile and lots of
fun, Enjoy!
