The fashion in the movie ‘Pretty in Pink’ and even ‘Seventeen Candles’ both featuring Molly Ringwald, are ICONIC for its fashion staples. In the film Molly was considered lower middle class. 20 years later the fashions in these movies have become designer’s inspiration. Prints are all the rag for summer/spring ’13. Style Rookie- Tavi Gevinson

THE Tavi “more notorious than the Betsey cartwheel” Gevinson: 16 years old household name in the fashion world. 

When she was 11, she created a blog, "Style Rookie," that captured the attention of designers, editors and many industry insiders! As the ‘unknown’ once said, “This was the first day of the rest of our lifes” 

At 11 Gevinson was receiving invitations to New York Fashion Week, appeared on artsy magazine covers also becoming close buds with Kate and Laura Mulleavy, aka the Rodarte sisters.

What inspired Tavi? Why a fashion blog? Of all the blogs did she ever think HER’S would be “the one”?

“When I started Rookie, there were a lot of girls like me who had fashion blogs and loved getting dressed up and thinking about appearance, not in a stressful women’s magazine way, but in a creative way. I can understand how some feminists who’ve fought against things like style or beauty defining all women might feel confused about how we can discuss self-esteem and being your own person but also write so much about fashion.” –Tavi

We’re excited to see what Tavi G does in her future in fashion. She had made quite the name for herself and was/is living out every fashionistas dream before hitting her Freshman Year in high school! Will we see a clothing line come to life in the near future? What hot male arm candy will we see in Tavi’s future?  Do you think she rocks out to J ‘believer’ Beiber? And our biggest question would be, what next for miss. Gevinson?

This is one of those pieces that can be a challenge to work with. Here Allie shows us how to dress it down or dress it up.  The popular denim trend paired with a classic pleated shirt and booties. Perfect going from day to night.  A pleated  skirt is a simple staple every girl must have! They’re flirtatious, feminine, best of all, incredibly forgiving. Specifically, a wider pleats, especially when met with high waistlines,  all the while elongating and slimming the leg.

Great play on print here! She’s got a bold print on top and continues the vertical motion in these pleats also elongationg the leg. Fashion brilliance is what this is!

I’m giving this one too… (drumrole) Mrs. Kelly Rowland. She looks youthful, fresh, and fun compared to Khloe who looks a bit awkward in the look.  Khloe could have improved her ensemble with a sleeker do as well as a shorter boot to   balance out the look. Better luck next time Kardash-Odem

'Only Girl' -Rihanna | Fashion Review

America’s ‘it girl’ RiRi has had quite the turnover and is now topping charts musically AND fashionably. Early last year Rihanna released her single ‘Only Girl (In The World).  This is like your favorite summer in the winter jam. “I could not stop watching because the video was shot so beautifully and furthermore… the fashion was ON POINT.” The first corset ensemble was AH-Maazing and such a precious look. So gorgeous in all white complementing her fire red hair which I felt added a bit of rebelliousness.  The cropped sky blue sweater with the thigh high’s, so effortless and feminine.  My FAVORITE look was the first one that you can barely see when the video begins which is later revealed in the video.  Rihanna is wearing a rhinestone headband with a matching top.  Thank Christina Aguilera during her “Stripped” days.  Rihanna pulled off this sexy look without looking (hmm)… trashy. ‘Only Girl’ is Raw and Sassy all in the same breath and earns a total of 5 PinkIndigo stars.
