NYFW Fall/Winter'13 Recap

New York Fashion Week is wrapping up so soon. L Well, until next time.  Here we go London but first let’s recap:
BCBG

We loved the cute beanies completing each look from BCBG MAXAZRIA. They did really well conveying a grungy, messy, layered look without coming across sloppy. Very well put together.

Project Runway
Spotted at the Project Runway show:  Nina Garcia, Zac Posen, Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn! Must I say Heidi walked out the house looking like she KNEW where she was going! So fab!

Noon by Noor
Can we just speak on this piece for a sec? The structure of this blazer is so chic! It has such sex appeal with the deep V but interestingly enough has a bit of a masculine feel with the exaggerated fold. A fall must have, I’m call it!

Nautica
The masculine pieces + the hot factor in this show was breathtaking. Really great menswear collection by Nautica.

Charlotte Ronson
We waited a whole year and oh Charlotte! I can’t say I’m surprised. Her collection never fails to disappoint.

Jill Stuart
Can I just say how refreshing it was to see Jill Stuart throw this pop of tangerine at us! Paired with these strappy oxblood heels adding just the right amount of girl power!

Nina Skarra
We couldn’t skip this on. I mean how adorable is this Skarra piece and just in time for V-Day.

DKNY
Honestly one of our fav’s. Every piece UN-deniable <3

                  Diane Von Furstenberg
This chick BROUGH it with this cobalt blue dress. Loving this open chest trend, She does it so classy. The belt adds a 70’s vide to the look, WE CAN DIG IT!

Betsey Johnson
What the heck is new? We love Betsey! Girls just wanna have fun

Marc by Marc Jacobs
This collection is AMAZING. Such a throwback and we loved every gorgeous print.

 Tory Burch
The old Victorian style added quite the twist to fashion week. Can’t wait to see how this comes to life this autumn.

                      Jcrew
Two words, Brad Goreski ahahaa. The woman’s wear is so clean and glamorous. Power couple wear!

Vera Wang

Doesn't this dress make you want to go back in time &  wear this to your senior prom?! Phenomenal

                    Michael Kors

I seriously can’t get over that blue pattern two piece, SICK!

Celebs LOVE MK
Spotted Zoe Saldana looking STUNNUNG at the MK show.

Always good to see you, Willow

Nanette Lapore
We rely on the queen of color this time of year. Do I see fuchsia? How about that coat? That’s what I call army fatigue heaven, man.

Rachel Zoe
Can I totally apologize on Mileys behalf for being so awesome? She stole the show #bible! How cool does Miley look at the Zoe show? She’s got style dripping from her fingertips.

That wraps it up NYFW. Who killed and who totally bombed? Comment or write us at info@pinkindigo.com for all your fashionista inquires! Fashion Week we hate to see you go but enough of these layers! Who’s ready for spring?!

Style Rookie- Tavi Gevinson

THE Tavi “more notorious than the Betsey cartwheel” Gevinson: 16 years old household name in the fashion world.

When she was 11, she created a blog, "Style Rookie," that captured the attention of designers, editors and many industry insiders! As the ‘unknown’ once said, “This was the first day of the rest of our lifes”

At 11 Gevinson was receiving invitations to New York Fashion Week, appeared on artsy magazine covers also becoming close buds with Kate and Laura Mulleavy, aka the Rodarte sisters.

Currently at 16 Tavi is StyleRookie's founder-editor, and her imprint is everywhere, from a DIY tutorial on "How to Turn Your Tights Into Knee Socks"! :o  --à http://rookiemag.com/2012/09/knee-socks-diy/
What inspired Tavi? Why a fashion blog? Of all the blogs did she ever think HER’S would be “the one”?

“When I started Rookie, there were a lot of girls like me who had fashion blogs and loved getting dressed up and thinking about appearance, not in a stressful women’s magazine way, but in a creative way. I can understand how some feminists who’ve fought against things like style or beauty defining all women might feel confused about how we can discuss self-esteem and being your own person but also write so much about fashion.” –Tavi

We’re excited to see what Tavi G does in her future in fashion. She had made quite the name for herself and was/is living out every fashionistas dream before hitting her Freshman Year in high school! Will we see a clothing line come to life in the near future? What hot male arm candy will we see in Tavi’s future?  Do you think she rocks out to J ‘believer’ Beiber? And our biggest question would be, what next for miss. Gevinson?

Happy Turkey Day!

Happy Turkey Day!

This year we are thankful for:
Catherine Dean | The true key to Catherine's style is her passion for traditional craft techniques. She takes forgotten or neglected crafts and uses them in a very contemporary way so her . Catherine Dean now claimed as THE emerging designer based in Hong Kong and has quickly become a current staple at most major runway shows including New York's Fashion Week. Catherine's pieces also seen on artist from Shakira to Kim Kardashian! I will definitely be looking out for more fab CD designed pieces on the hottest runways.

Her most recent recognized work is this gorg statement cutout dress worn by pop artist P!NK at this years 40th Anniversary American Music Awards! *adds dress to christmas list* hehe. She teamed the dress with large pear drop earrings and a rolled-in hairstyle with shaved sides. Of course, P!NK usually favors an edgy rocker look and prefers to set trends rather than follow them \m/. P!NK was also complimented by the fashionista of the 80's Cyndi Lauper. This alone says EVERYTHING. Beautiful design Cat, stunning look by P!NK.

LFW Burberry Prorsum Recap | Spring/ Summer 2013

First to say you couldn't take your eyes off the runway. Lots of great volume in a lot of the pieces. All of the eye catching capes and trenches, doing half the work for the stylist lol. Bailey really outdid himself modernizing the trench coat in this way, beautiful! LOVE the bodysuits, again very modernized from the 60's. Pencil skirts, foil shirts, satin bright, colored wedge heels.. All very well done.

The finale: last walk was very clean as the models lapped in the pieces color order with little bags looked spectacular!

Thoughts on the show? What are your favorite LFW moments?
